Asfar has just launched its’ first ever Stipend scheme for Durham University Students and Graduates for the role of Senior Editor!
From December 2012 to July 2014, Asfar published an e-Journal focused on the Middle East with contributions by aspiring Writers, Photographers and Thinkers intrigued by the region.
All involved – the Senior Editor, Regional Editors, Contributors and Website team – were active volunteers.
Asfar’s Director, a Durham IMEIS Graduate, is now trying to identify a committed volunteer to take on the role of Senior Editor.
The Senior Editor will have overall responsibility for the publication of the e-Journal, from promoting it to universities and other key organisations, managing the editorial team of over 10 voluntary editors and supporting writers, photographers and others interested in getting involved in the e-Journal, as well as signposting them to other Asfar opportunities.
The previously unpaid post of Senior Editor is now vacant and in order to attract applicants likely to be involved on a long term basis, Asfar has decided to launch a Stipend Scheme, initially for Durham students and graduates. Although the post will be open to all current Durham students and graduates, an interest in the Middle East is essential. An interest in pursuing a career in publishing would also be useful.
