At Asfar, we believe that learning English is about much more than grammar—it’s about building the confidence to communicate, connect, and succeed in an international world. Drawing on over a decade of experience delivering education, training, youth development, and international programmes across Europe, the Middle East, the Caucasus and Balkans, and Asia, our online English lessons combine practical language learning with real-world communication skills.
Whether you’re preparing for work, study, travel, or everyday conversations, we offer personalised, engaging lessons that reflect your goals and interests. Through a supportive and learner-centred approach, we’ll help you develop the confidence to use English naturally while gaining the intercultural communication skills needed to thrive in today’s global environment.

Meet the tutor
Learning English is about far more than memorising vocabulary or grammar rules—it is about building confidence, communicating with people from different cultures, and creating new opportunities. That philosophy is at the heart of every lesson delivered by Sheniz Tan, Director of Asfar CIC and AsfarEurope.
With more than 15 years of international experience in education, training, leadership and international development, Sheniz has worked with learners, educators, government departments, NGOs, charities and businesses across more than 25 countries. As CEO and Director of Asfar, she leads an international organisation delivering educational programmes, youth development initiatives, professional training and international partnerships throughout Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, the Caucasus, the Balkans and Asia. Alongside her leadership responsibilities, Sheniz has spent much of her career designing and facilitating workshops, training programmes and mentoring opportunities for diverse groups of learners. She has led more than 30 international learning and youth development programmes, countless international partnership meetings and has extensive experience supporting people from different cultural, educational and professional backgrounds.
As a qualified Level 5 TEFL teacher and Level 3 Award in Education and Training holder, Sheniz combines professional teaching techniques with real-world international experience. Her lessons are designed to be engaging, practical and supportive, helping learners develop confidence in speaking English naturally rather than simply memorising language.
Students particularly value Sheniz’s friendly, patient and encouraging teaching style. Every lesson is tailored to the learner’s goals, whether they are beginning their English journey or preparing for international study, employment or travel. Lessons focus on creating a relaxed environment where mistakes are welcomed as part of the learning process and confidence grows through regular conversation.

Her professional background also enables her to provide specialist support for professionals working in international organisations, charities, NGOs, education, government and business. Having worked with ministries, international agencies, European programmes and a World Bank development consultancy team for Azerbaijan, she understands the communication skills required in multicultural and professional environments.
Education has always been central to Sheniz’s career. Alongside her teaching qualifications, she holds a Master’s degree in Reconciliation and Peacebuilding, is completing a Master of Public Administration (International Development), and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. This unique combination of educational leadership, international management and teaching experience allows her to connect with learners from a wide variety of backgrounds while adapting lessons to their individual ambitions.
Through Asfar and AsfarEurope, Sheniz has spent many years promoting intercultural dialogue, lifelong learning and international cooperation. These same values are reflected in every English lesson: helping people communicate across cultures, develop confidence and discover new opportunities through language learning.
