Editorial Note – June 2018

Hello, and welcome to the June 2018 issue of Asfar’s e-journal!

So much has happened since the last issue. Russia has alienated itself by interfering in the domestic affairs of other countries, the Syrian government seems to have consolidated its power over the country, and the situation in the Gulf between Qatar and the other GCC states doesn’t seem to have thawed much since last year. Do you have any ideas on how things might progress?

In this issue we have a photo montage from my recent trip to Georgia, accounting the varied architecture in the mountainous republic, a new contributor under the pseudonym MissFattoush talks about the issues between Turks and Arabs and the Syrian civil war, Annie Evans discusses President Trump’s commitment to move the US embassy to Jerusalem and the Jewish Museum in Berlin’s reaction, and our Iran editor Rich Quinlan offers an insight into the recent Iranian protests by recounting the protests that led to the 1979 Iranian Revolution.

I would like to thank both our regular contributors and new ones, our small team of editors, and our CEO Sheniz Tan for their help in putting this issue of the Asfar e-journal together.

I hope you enjoy reading the June 2018 issue of our e-journal, and as ever, if you have any ideas for the next edition or would like to know more about Asfar you can email me at: joew@asfar.org.uk

Best wishes,

Joe Worthington
