Calling all social workers, teachers/educators, youth workers/leaders and professionals that work with women and girls and want to expand their knowledge and skills to ensure gender equality. Join six strategic partners from across Europe in Budapest, Hungary for a week of engaging in the best practices, tools and knowledge to achieve the 5th UN sustainable development goal and EU Gender equality strategy of gender equality and equity.
What is LAB4GE?
Standing for Learn Abroad to do Better at home for Gender Equality, LAB4GE, supported by Erasmus+ is a project which aims to share best practices to empower women and encourage gender mainstreaming. Gender equality and equity is a key goal within the EU and the UN. Six strategic Partners from across Europe have come together aiming to contribute towards decreasing gender discrimination by sharing their best methodologies and tools to allow others to increase social inclusion and knowledge within their own communities. This training session will reveal ways to increase women’s economic activity and aid social integration through education, finishing with the tools to disseminate their results. Targeting women from disadvantaged backgrounds this course will focus on teaching Digital Storytelling, while covering issues such as Social Enterprise, Human Trafficking and Vulnerability. The resources distributed can be adapted to a range of settings including formal and nonformal education. Through education, social development, and individual support we want to enable international communities to achieve sustainable progress in society.
What will you learn on this training course?
Hosted by Anthropolis (Hungary), Digital Storytelling (DST) fosters empathy and self-understanding by crafting a narrated story based on personal experiences, views or stories with pictures and dialogue. This reflective methodology helps participants to gain perspective and build confidence by processing and articulating their own stories within a safe space. The short films created can be used to raise awareness and break down complex issues into easily communicated forms of media. Over 3 days, participants will write their story and edit their words to pictures, video and audio of their choosing using IT tools, focusing on self-reflection. Throughout the week you will also learn from Asfar CIC (United Kingdom) who will share their Gender-Sensitive approach to Social Entrepreneurship, Gratitude a different approach to Vulnerability by Associazione SUD (Italy) and WOMCA, Boosting women’s creativite spirit to start social entrepreneurship by IBOX Create (Spain). InterCollege (Denmark) will introduce methods of womens empowerment from their Equal Start programe and International Internships srl (Romania) will foster understanding of Human Trafficking.
Who is eligible to attend this training course?
We are looking for adults who work with women and girls, especially but not exclusively from vulnerable backgrounds*and are committed to achieving gender equality. We are seeking individuals (e.g. youth workers, social workers, educators) who are highly motivated and passionate about women empowerment and are willing to use our methods in a dissemination session within their community. Participants must be available during the week of 17/10/2022, traveling to Budapest on the 17/10/2022 and departing on the 23/10/2022
Selection criteria
To fully take advantage of this opportunity please ensure you meet all the criteria:
- Be at least 18 years old;
- Be able to communicate and work in English (Intermediate level);
- Be able to actively participate for the entire duration of the training event (from 17/10/2022 to 23/10/2022);
- Be in need of/interested in obtaining tools, methods and best practices to counteract gender inequality and to boost women empowerment;
- Actively working with women from disadvantaged backgrounds and/or with gender inequality and inequity issues;
- Be committed to sharing the results of the activities with peers and stakeholders;
- Be prepared to share the results from participating in internal workshops
- Must be citizen/resident of at least one partner country (Denmark, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Spain or UK)
The selection criteria for this training course have been discussed and agreed upon by all partners and will be upheld to ensure a transparent and fair process. Partners will select participants with skills, motivations and experience relevant to the project, its activities and who can contribute to the achievement of our objectives.
What will funding cover?
Travel to and from Hungary will be arranged with your partner organisation when your place on the course is confirmed. Accommodation will be provided, with two people sharing one room – we can arrange a single-sex room on request. Food during breakfast, lunch and dinner in the week will be provided also.

The application aims to understand each individual’s motivations to complete the training course, showcasing how an applicant will benefit from this course, their relevant skills and knowledge of gender inequality, especially among women from vulnerable backgrounds*.
*For this course vulnerable backgrounds/disadvantaged backgrounds refer to (but are not limited to): Economically and socially deprived women. Women living in rural and coastal areas. Romani women. Women with an immigrant background. Women from LGBTQI communities.
